Hi, Iā€™m Tom Olsen.

I have lived in Minneapolis for 11 years and I hope to spend my whole life here, because I believe the residents of this city are committed to standing up for one another and never ceasing to fight for the best version of Minneapolis.

I joined the Community Environmental Advisory Commission (CEAC) in 2016 to work with my neighbors to study and advise on policies that would create a sustainable and just future for everyone.

As Vice-Chair of CEAC, I worked to reform our by-laws and guiding principles to ensure that the needs and voices of our BIPOC community members were prioritized. It was in that vein that I stepped down from my role on CEAC so that I could make room for new voices.

I have spent my professional career devoted to organizing for progressive causes, standing up for consumer rights, advocating for environmental progress, and supporting DFL communications at the State Capitol helping to secure victories at the state level.

All of this experience has informed the decisions I made as your At-Large Commissioner. My intergovernmental expertise is a valuable asset that has helped the MPRB secure much need funding and political support from our partners.

I will continue to work to maintain the high quality of our parks while fighting to make them more inclusive, community-oriented, and forward-thinking.
